Wear it visibly
Small and wearable, designed to sit on a lanyard so the message can be seen when needed.
Assistive wearable concept
A simple wearable communication support device for moments when words aren’t enough.
Overview
HelpBadge is a wearable concept designed to communicate basic needs instantly: communication difficulty, a need for patience, reassurance that everything is OK, or a situation where help is needed.
The idea is intentionally simple. The person wears it visibly, presses the button when needed and the screen shows a clear message that can be understood quickly by a stranger, carer, teacher, family member or member of staff.
Official website
HelpBadge has its own dedicated website where the concept, message states and waitlist are presented in more detail.
How it works
HelpBadge is not meant to be complicated. The whole point is to make communication easier during moments that may already feel stressful, delayed or overwhelming.
Small and wearable, designed to sit on a lanyard so the message can be seen when needed.
A simple button action changes the message without needing a phone, touchscreen or complex menu.
Bold text, strong colours and simple symbols help other people understand the situation quickly.
The person does not need to explain everything out loud at the exact moment communication is hardest.
Screen states
Each state is built to be visible quickly, with strong contrast, bold text and a distinct colour signal.
Why it exists
HelpBadge was inspired by real family life and moments when communication becomes difficult, delayed or overwhelming. The goal is to offer a simple, immediate way to show a need without pressure to speak.
This is not a project made only because technology allows it. It is a project built around a human need: to be understood quickly, calmly and without extra stress.
Who it is for
HelpBadge is for people who struggle with communication, need support in daily situations or want to feel safer outside the home.
It is also for parents, carers and families who want peace of mind that someone nearby can understand the situation quickly.
Product direction
The product direction is deliberately minimal: strong messages, clear colours, a physical button and a wearable form factor that does not rely on a phone app in the moment.

The message is visible on the device, reducing the need to explain the situation verbally.
Small enough to wear, but clear enough to be understood when the person chooses to show the message.
The concept comes from real situations, not from a generic gadget idea.
